The system uses number plate recognition and cashless payment technology, removing the need for paper tickets and helping customers move in and out of the airport carpark more smoothly.
The upgrade forms part of a wider range of improvements currently being delivered under the Devonport Airport Master Plan 2035, which sets out a staged approach to strengthening safety, resilience, enhanced retail and hospitality offering, and improved terminal amenity and customer experience across the airport precinct.
The move to ticketless parking marks a practical step in bringing the Master Plan to life — delivering an immediate improvement for airport users while supporting Devonport Airport’s long-term growth as a key tourism and business gateway to Tasmania’s North West.
Additional works currently underway as part of the Master Plan include a completely refreshed Qantas Lounge, airside lighting upgrade, redevelopment of the hire car precinct, and a longer-term Terminal Precinct Upgrade.
